Crafts and
GETTING

Below are some of the non-agricultural items that are commonly found in our households. Ifugaos are regarded as skilled weavers and have been producing basketry and woven things for shelter, rain protection and other farming implements for centuries.

We get our ratten and bamboo from the forests and do everything by hand, from harvesting, splitting, shaving and whittling to soaking, drying, and weaving. The job is shared between men and women. Weaving is usually done in between farm work.

Some baskets are also made to be given as gifts for special occassions, most notably as wedding gifts.
